Give Blood and Save a Life in 2012

January 2, 2012 by Molly Huff

Giving blood is a simple way to potentially save a life, and every January a national awareness campaign takes place to encourage American citizens to donate blood.

All of us have more than enough blood to share, and the pints of blood collected through the Red Cross and local blood banks are critical for hospitals to use during blood transfusions or operations.  Although January is National Blood Donor Month, consider giving blood several times a year.  There are few blood banks that can maintain more than a three-day supply for blood transfusions, so the need for blood, platelets and plasma is constant.
